Defining barriers and solutions to employment for people with mental health issues

The Queensland Mental Health Commission and the Anti-Discrimination Commission Queensland asked Outpost Consulting to assist them in developing a joint submission to a national parliamentary inquiry on employment for people with disabilities and mental health conditions.

We undertook a literature review and developed a discussion starter as the basis for consultations with stakeholders.  We then held a workshop involving people with lived experience and others to unpack the themes emerging from the literature and explore solutions to the issues.  The result was a comprehensive submission which had buy-in from all stakeholders, including the people affected by policies being proposed.  The submission was cited numerous times in the Human Rights Commission report.
